Here is a watercolor that I just finished. It is of the peony that bloomed in my garden this past spring.

Gardening

I just received my Burpee catalog in the mail. This just reminds me that spring is really just around the corner, even though they are still predicting snow for us this weekend. I love to garden. I think it's one of my other real passions. I love planning out the garden and starting something from seed and watching it take off.

Mostly I love carnations. They are such an understated flower. Sure they look some what cheap at the flower shop next to, say, an orchid. But you can't beat the fragrance! When you have 50 of them together in the garden it smells amazing. It's great to cut a few and bring them inside in a vase. This year I am going to get a few of these Dianthus Chomley Farran carnations. I think that these would make a great watercolor too. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if they will grow.

Playdate

I have just joined a new playgroup, my first one ever, with my 3 year old. I didn't know what to expect. So far it's great. My little one gets to get out of the house for a few hours and play with a great group of kids her own age and I get to talk to a few adults during the day! Win, win.

But I realized after the second meeting that after searching for a scrap of paper and crayon to write down my contact info to share with a few other mom's, I needed a play date card. So I put those illustration and design skills to work and came up with a card that I can hand out.

This makes it so much easier than having little scraps of paper all over the place, that I'm totally going to loose!

New year, new website

I have redesigned the Bee Creatives website and my blog, The Buzz. I am so excited. I think that the new redesigns look great, are clean and are easy to navigate. I am always adding new samples of my work to the site too, you can view them on the portfolio page.

Charley Harper

The folks over at Purl Soho have created these hand painted needlepoint canvases based on the art work of illustrator Charley Harper. Now my two favorite things come together design and needlepoint.

The Vineyard

Hello from Martha's Vineyard! This Bee is on vacation this week in Edgartown, on Martha's Vineyard, with Mr. Bee and Little Bee. Here they are going to the Edgartown Lighthouse. What a great way to kick off the start of Summer. The weather has been great so far, in the 70's and sunny. I love the Vineyard. With all the art galleries and the unbelievable beaches I don't know if I want to leave!

Here's the little one after a long day at the beach, out cold on the couch.

See you in a week!
